Originally from California, Jan has lived in six different states, then settled in Asheville, N.C.   Raising two sons, she has entreprenerd two businesses, wrote and illustrated a children’s picture book, and later returned to college to acquire a BFA . She works in all  mediums and dives into new techniques  She currently is focusing on abstracts and collaging.  All her papers for the collaging are self-made and mono-printed.  She also does detailed Pen& Ink with watercolor.   Her goal is to carry the viewer beyond the ordinary and experience new concepts of awareness. She teaches fine arts to children ages 4-16 in her home studio, Jan’s Art Academy, in Asheville. It is a privilege for her to equip young people "to see" their world with new vision and teach them fundamentals of drawing and painting.
