I work in oils and some mixed media in a traditional form of realism. I cherish the seen world.

Light always inspires me, the design of compositions drives my interest and the process of working with luscious paint in rendering details, color and values gets me excited. The integration of this process fascinates me. And every part of that practice draws me to being a painter. Within this activity I find calm, beauty, solitude and even a sense of play and I love that quiet, rich place of making a painting. My paintings, hopefully, bring an experience of like-kind to the viewer, one of excitement and love of beauty.

With a degree in painting and drawing I went on to study horticulture and landscape architecture. Using all the skills learned with art and other studies I practiced residential landscape design for thirty years. Drawing and painting helped my design work and when time allowed my art practice provided opportunities for reflection and relaxation.

Now I am focused on painting and sketching full time here in the beautiful region of Western North Carolina.
