Robin Dail is an artist painting in oils and based in Mills River, North Carolina. She
spends much of her time in the mountains of western North Carolina and the coastal
areas of South Carolina walking through nature which inspires her landscape and
seascape paintings. Dail is influenced by American Tonalism and Hudson River School
art, painting to create atmospheric representation of nature, which almost always
includes a glowing sunset or shining distant moon and the water of ponds, rivers or the
sea. Having come to art late in life, she builds on a long career as a nurse and
academic researcher and is largely self-taught through workshops and studying with
artists. She paints en plein air (outside)and in her home studio. Dail is an active member
in the Oil Painters of America and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society (NOAPS).
