Bronwen McCormick’s watercolor artwork explores the natural beauty of the Western North Carolina Mountain landscape. Inspired by the wide vistas with “waves” of blue mountains to the wild brambles along a forest trail, she seeks to create a feeling of presence and place in her paintings.  She is drawn to the watercolor medium for its luminosity, accessibility, and the challenge of working in a process that requires an artist to “let go” to create something beautiful. 

 “I feel like I will spend my lifetime trying to capture the feeling I have when I look out on the waves of hills and breathe it in. It is a sort of transcendence, a stoppage of time, a sense of being a part of something larger but at the same time very aware of my own presence in a place. The goal and challenge is to capture it in a painting.”
