Zoe Schumaker is an artist, nature-lover, and outdoor enthusiast. Her pastel and multi-media paintings often feature Southern Appalachian landscapes, flowers, and animals, as well as other wild places and creatures.
Zoe’s colorful and expressive paintings have been included in many regional and national exhibitions. Recent honors include an Honorable Mention Award at the 2019 Southeastern Pastel Society National Exhibition, an Exceptional Merit Award at the 2018 Southeastern Pastel Society International Exhibition, and an Honorable Mention Award at the Appalachian Pastel Society 2017 National Exhibition. Her artwork has been featured on interpretive signage at an ethnobotanic demonstration gardens in Georgia, holiday cards for United Community Bank and posters and a wine label for Crane Creek Vineyards. She especially enjoys using her artwork to help others learn about and appreciate the beauty and wonders of nature, and has worked with several environmental non-profits and community groups to this end.
Zoe has attained signature status with the Southern Appalachian Artist Guild and is a Member of Excellence of the Appalachian Pastel Society and the Southeastern Pastel Society. Since 2016, she has been teaching pastel and multi-media painting at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC.
